Taiwan is a relatively unexplored treasure offering breathtaking scenery, fascinating history and exotic cultures. Here is a brief tour showcasing Taiwan’s highlights.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – UK to Taipei

Fly from your regional airport to Taipei.

Day 2 – Arrive Taipei

Arrive Taipei where you will be met and taken by private transfer to your hotel.

Why not use your Metro Day Pass (included) and take unlimited rides on the MRT and city buses. You may wish to include visits to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial, Taipei 101, Lungshan Temple, National Palace Museum and don’t forget to include a visit to one of the popular night markets! Entrance fees to sites are not included.

Day 3 – Pingxi Line & Sky Lanterns

A full day’s guided sightseeing tour to Shifen. Transfer to Taipei Station where you will board the train and travel along the scenic Pingxi Line to Shifen. You will have time to explore Shifen’s historic Old Street with stalls serving local cuisine and souvenirs. Visit a tourist coal mine and launch your very own sky lantern, giving you an authentic insight into Taiwanese culture. A one day hop on/hop off pass is included allowing you to explore more stops along the way.

Day 4 – Taroko National Park

Board the Puyuma/Taroko Express high speed tilting train for the scenic coastal journey to Hualien City. Here you will be met by your local guide for a tour of Taroko Gorge, an awe inspiring gorge lined by sheer cliffs of marble. Your visit will include the Tunnel of Nine Turns, Swallow Grotto and the Eternal Spring Shrine.

Day 5 – Taitung

A local guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you by road to Taitung, visiting sites en route including Sansiantai Dragon Bridge and Xiaoyeliu Scenic Area.

Day 6 – Chaiyi

Private transfer to Taitung station where you will board the train to Chiayi. On arrival you will be met by a local guide who will transfer you to your hotel. Opportunity to visit Hinoki Village, Sun Shooting Tower or Tropical of Cancer Monument independently.

Day 7 – Alishan

Meet your driver at the hotel and transfer by road to Alishan. Here you may wish to take a journey on the Alishan Railway to Sacred Tree (at own cost) or walk along the various forest routes available.

Day 8 – Sun Moon Lake

You may wish to take the famous Sunrise Train to Chushan, the highest railway station in Taiwan at 8,041ft to view the spectacular sunrise (independently). Return to your hotel for breakfast before meeting your driver for the journey to Sun Moon Lake. After checking in to your hotel why not take a cruise along the Lake (Sunrise Train and lake cruise at own cost).

Day 9 – Changhua Roundhouse

Today you travel by bus to Checheng where you board the train for Changhua, which travels along the scenic Jiji Line. Visit the Roundhouse at Changhua Station before continuing by local train to Taichung where you will board the high speed service to Taoyuan Airport Station for your flight back to the UK. A packed lunch will be provided today.

Evening flight departure for UK.

Day 10 – Arrive UK

Arrive back in the UK.
