We arranged a Tailored Rail holiday for a customer who wished to visit four of the country’s major cities - Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal in just 8 days! Canada’s excellent railways allowed the traveller to sit back and journey through wonderful landscapes to reach the city destinations.

January 2019 saw the launch of Michael Portillo’s new BBC ‘Great Railways’ series which saw him explore Alaska and Canada by train. This 16-day tour captures elements of the journey he takes in the Great Canadian Railway Journeys series. It takes you from the Atlantic port of Halifax, Nova Scotia to vibrant Vancouver in British Columbia.

If you saw Michael Portillo’s new Great Alaskan Railroads series which began on BBC2 on 7th January 2019 you too may be inspired to head to the USA’s ‘Last Frontier’. We have produced a Tailored Rail tour that follows Portillo and combines some of Alaska's most famous attractions including Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks. Travel the entire Alaska Railroad and sit back to enjoy the amazing scenery along this coastal and interior route. There’s also a chance to see Alaska’s ‘Big Five’ – bears, moose, wolves, caribou and Dall sheep.

We put together this Tailored Rail tour for a couple who wanted to see as much of California and Western USA as possible during an 18-day trip. They understood that travelling by train would give them an excellent view of the Pacific Coastline and the changing landscapes through the western US states to Chicago. We organised all travel and accommodation and arranged excursions specific to their requests.

This Tailored Rail tour was created for a couple who wanted to make the most of their chosen flight route to Australia and were specific about what they wanted to see Down Under. A combination of rail and plane allowed them to enjoy Perth, Melbourne and the Great Barrier Reef with stop overs in Dubai and Hong Kong outbound and return.

In the second episode of this ITV series, Billy Connolly’s American railway adventure continues as he journeys on the jewel in the crown of America’s rail network. You too can hurtle past jaw dropping vistas of land and sea along the West Coast and Pacific Ocean as you ride the Coast Starlight route from Seattle via San Francisco down to Los Angeles. Then travel by train to Dallas across ‘Big Country’ and ‘under ‘Big Skies’.
